rare one of a kind nva helmet ? found this helmet on ebay in around 2000 , this is a very unusual helmet , the man I got this from has had this since the 80's . I wanted it because its so odd , its made out of a very light product , not sure what it is, and the interior is very unusual, I have not seen any like it in the years I have been collecting . maybe for parades or dignitaries or ??

rare captured vc helmet helmet is plastic, has original label as found on this type of helmet from the early in the war , the rubber membrane cover is original as is the camouflage netting , with some remnants of camo still tied to the netting . the hat has one tear in the rubber cover and one bullet hole in the brim of the hat , this is an original piece bought from the personal collection of john O'Connor of Indochina militaria .com |

I was surprised to see this used by the vc that early in the war .in the 69 Us military book of vc nva captured field gear for mac v, it describes vc helmets with a attached piece of wood with a glow in the dark painted with the vc unit number . this is the only one I have ever found with the tag, |

I have not seen any others of this type of light being used in Vietnam , my friend said there were crates of these , no maker name, make a neat tunnel lamp, he gave me three of these, I gave one to my friend john Conner , if you have one of these contact me , as for now these are the only three that I know exist |

a very sad grouping I purchased this from matt siler , I have added a few things to the group that I felt belonged with this . the war dog pictured was kia during this raid on an airbase . I have looked up the dogs that were kia at air bases and only one was kia, his name was king, the pictures show the nva that tried to get on to the base and there demise . the scorpion is original , the receiver was cut diagonally to make it legal and bonded back together for display . the group comes with the scorpion , the holster, the pictures of the kia , king and the nva , a war dog collar and us dog coat dated 67. contact me if you have an interest in this group . |
